SANTO DOMINGO- Arajet, the Caribbean region's newest low-cost airline, announced yesterday that it has added two new routes to Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador, from Las Américas International Airport, bringing its network to 15 destinations in 10 countries since its launch.
The new routes connecting Quito and Guayaquil with Santo Domingo are part of the network's growth as the new national airline for the Dominican Republic, which focuses on offering Dominican travelers new flight options, lower fares, and better service.
“By offering lower fares to the Dominican public, we are now able to build and offer affordable air travel to our guests. Their positive response is fueling Arajet’s rapid expansion. We have promised to revolutionize the skies of the region and want to ensure we deliver on those promises to our customers with lower fares. We are on track to offer 19 routes connecting 11 countries in the Americas from our hub in Santo Domingo by the end of 2022,” stated Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and founder of Arajet.
Arajet will connect Santo Domingo with Quito for the first time through two weekly flights, on Mondays and Fridays, and Guayaquil with flights on Thursdays and Saturdays.
The routes that Arajet offers nonstop from Santo Domingo are Mexico City, Monterrey and Cancun, Mexico; San Salvador, El Salvador; San Jose, Costa Rica; Guatemala City; Lima, Peru; Cali, Barranquilla and Cartagena in Colombia; and Saint Maarten, Aruba and Curacao in the Caribbean.
Arajet began operations with five new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The airline plans to add 12 more over the next two years to serve new routes in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, as well as 17 new destinations in the United States and two in Canada to support its expansion.

Arajet offers a base fare of $120, the lowest in the region. The airline has already increased the number of routes and the frequency of flights to Guatemala, El Salvador, and Mexico to better serve the growing passenger demand.
