Wewant to call on the national financial system to join the housing inclusion policies that the Dominican State, together with the private sector, are promoting, and to break the operational scheme that ties them to a totally exclusionary model.
SANTO DOMINGO, RD – On its 12th anniversary, the Dominican Confederation of Micro, Small and Medium Construction Companies Inc. (COPYMECON) highlighted the great contributions made to the sector, “which has managed to formally unite and organize micro, small and medium construction companies throughout the country.”
The organization held a Thanksgiving Mass this Wednesday to commemorate the date and for the development of the Ciudad Altos de la Riviera project, where 2,400 apartments are being built under the Trust modality, which will benefit hundreds of Dominicans through the Happy Family Housing Plan (PVFF).
The homily was delivered by the Chaplain of the National Palace, Franciscan Priest Kelvis Acevedo, who highlighted the important work of MSMEs in the development of local economies.
The president of COPYMECON, Eliseo Cristopher, highlighted that since its founding, the institution has made fundamental contributions to strengthening democracy, the rule of law, the fight against corruption, and the development and sustainability of the economy, among other contributions for the common social benefit.
He also highlighted that the government has promoted inclusive housing policies and has effectively gotten the private sector involved in this policy, but that full integration of key sectors is still needed to achieve the desired success.
“We want to call on the national financial system to join the housing inclusion policies that the Dominican State, together with the private sector, are promoting, and to break the operational scheme that ties them to a totally exclusionary model, since today we need to provide thousands of Dominicans with the possibility of owning their own home and we must take advantage of this synergy that exists between the government and the private sector,” he pointed out.
He stated that the housing policy is aimed at the most impoverished sectors of the population and that without the helping hand of the State, which in this case is being extended, it will not be possible to move forward, highlighting that even though the government of President Luis Abinader is implementing an inclusive policy to benefit the poorest sectors of the nation and that includes construction SMEs, there are sectors that resist embracing this policy to contribute to its implementation.
He pointed out that there will be no way to break social inequality until every Dominican has access to decent housing. We have an accumulated deficit of years and we are facing a great opportunity to provide a social response, which is a demand of the most impoverished sectors who have faith that with the Happy Family Housing Plan (PVFF) they will be able to make their dream a reality.
