SANTO DOMINGO– Airbnb continues to innovate to make it easier for hosts to navigate the platform. Yesterday, it announced the global launch of Airbnb Star, a completely redesigned and user-friendly app to help hosts get started listing their properties.
The company's statement indicates that during the past year, more than 30 million people visited Airbnb to learn how to offer accommodation through the platform.
This new option, which is part of the 2022 winter launch, includes:
Personalized guidance from a Superhost: You'll receive free support to help you get started and answer all your questions, from initial inquiries to welcoming your first guest, via audio calls, video calls, and messages. Airbnb notes that it has 1,500 Superhosts in 80 countries available to assist new members of the community.
With Airbnb Star, new hosts can also host an experienced guest on their first booking, and Airbnb will help them choose one who has completed at least three positive stays.
In addition, the Star app will offer specialized Airbnb support, giving new hosts direct access to a customer service agent with just one click. This agent will assist them with any issues affecting their account, including payment-related matters. This service will be available by phone, text message, or email in over 42 languages.
“Airbnb was born during a recession, when Joe and I couldn’t afford rent and decided to put three air mattresses on the floor and create AirBed & Breakfast. Before long, people from all over the world started joining our platform,” says Brian Chesky, CEO and co-founder of Airbnb.
“Just like during the Great Recession of 2008, people are now especially keen to earn extra income by hosting travelers. That’s why we’re introducing an easy way for millions of people to list their homes on Airbnb. With Airbnb Start, new hosts will receive free, personalized guidance from Superhosts, who will help them through the process, from answering their first questions to receiving their first booking. Plus, with the expansion of AirCover coverage, now is the perfect time to join our community,” said Chesky.
In the document announcing the winter updates, Airbnb explains that the numbers show that accommodations newly uploaded to the platform are receiving bookings almost immediately.
"Half of the listings published and booked in the first quarter of 2022 received their first booking in less than three days. There has also been significant growth in new hosts, especially in countries with high inflation rates.".
The platform also announced increased AirCover coverage and new categories.
