Airbnb yesterday announced the 23 members of its 2023 Host Advisory Council, which includes Yajaira Sosa from the Dominican Republic. These are premium members selected by the platform who influence the development of policies, programs, and products related to hosts.
According to his profile, Sosa joined the platform in 2015, standing out for the many positive comments about his accommodations and his efforts to promote the charms of the Dominican Republic.
"These 23 hosts represent the best of our community and are great role models. They are community leaders, ambassador superhosts, community hub members, or participate in other Airbnb programs. They are passionate about the world of hosting, have made great contributions to our community, and are a key part of this journey we are taking together," the company explains.

According to her Airbnb profile, Sosa lives in Punta Cana and, along with her husband, began hosting guests in 2013. “Before we met in 2001, Francisco (my husband) and I dreamed of helping many people enjoy the beauty of our country without spending too much. In 2013, we acquired an abandoned building that captivated us, which we continue to renovate to make it more welcoming. Along the way, we have hosted incredible people who are now our friends. We are so grateful to have you in our home and for helping us spread little seeds of kindness around the world,” the host emphasizes.
The company notes that the group of advisors shares a passion for hosting and represents the best of the Airbnb community and will "provide an important perspective in the development of policies, programs, and products related to hosts.".
This time, the board of directors has representation from 15 countries and 129 years of accumulated experience in hospitality.
In addition to the Dominican Republic, it includes Brazil, the United States (with several states), the United Kingdom, Spain, Kenya, California, India, France, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Italy, South Africa, and Canada
About the Council
Airbnb created the Council in 2020 with the goal of giving hosts the opportunity to contribute ideas and positively influence all areas of the platform's work, from safety to tools and community empowerment.
“The Host Advisory Board plays a vital role in the success of Airbnb and Hosts around the world,” says Catherine Powell, Global Head of Hosting at Airbnb.
“I am delighted to welcome the 2023 board, whose extensive experiences, interests and passions will bring diverse perspectives that will allow us to continue innovating and creating the best possible experience for our more than four million Hosts worldwide.”
