SANTO DOMINGO.-The Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies (AEI) welcomed President Luis Abinader's decision to withdraw the tax modernization bill from the National Congress.
“We value this show of openness and sensitivity to the concerns expressed by various sectors of Dominican society, including the real estate sector. This action reflects leadership attentive to the needs and concerns of citizens and businesses,” the entity highlighted in a document sent to El Inmobiliario.
The association representing real estate agents reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with authorities in the search for solutions that strengthen the national economy, promote investment in the real estate sector, and protect the interests of homeowners and buyers.
“We trust that this step will pave the way for a constructive dialogue that will allow us to develop balanced fiscal policies that promote economic growth and the development of the real estate sector, without imposing excessive burdens on Dominicans,” he said.
The statement emphasizes that the institution remains willing to contribute its experience and market knowledge to help formulate policies that benefit the country and the real estate sector in particular.
In a message to the nation last Saturday, President Luis Abinader announced the withdrawal of the tax modernization bill, which was under study in the Chamber of Deputies, due to the collective discontent of the population with the government's proposal.
Yesterday the president clarified that he does not plan to submit another new proposal to the country, but rather that his administration will make the necessary economic adjustments to continue leading the Dominican nation.
