During his activities in Miami, President Luis Abinader told a group of stakeholders in the tourism sector that "the best of Dominican Republic tourism is yet to come," highlighting the various projects the country has planned for development in the different tourist destinations of the land of merengue.
In a meeting with tour operators, travel agents, airlines, hotel chains, and cruise executives in Miami, Florida, the Dominican president thanked them for the trust they have placed in the country, highlighting the importance of travel agents, tour operators, and cruise lines for Dominican tourism and what this sector represents for the economy.
Regarding Punta Cana, he explained that it is a locomotive that does not stop and that in the coming days it will have an amusement park, new golf courses, hotel and mortgage projects that extend to Miches, in the province of El Seibo, where hotels will be developed and work is being done on the infrastructure for it.
The governor stated that another commitment to the sector is the Punta Bergatín project in Puerto Plata, which will relaunch the entire north coast with film studios in partnership with Vin Diesel, innovation centers, and a Planet Hollywood hotel.
He reaffirmed his confidence in tourism and that its development can reach all sectors, from those who develop projects to taxis, agricultural producers and Dominican industries that produce what reaches the hotels.
“And today we not only want to thank you, but also tell you that you and the tourists you take there (to the Dominican Republic) are extremely important, and that is why we are going to take care of you and follow up with you so that you have the best experiences in our country,” he said.
He said that it is because of this confidence shown by the actors in the tourism sector that work is being done to develop the Pedernales destination, with an exceptional white sand beach where you can go up to a kilometer out and the water will remain shallow.
He stated that the development of this enclave will be less dense than the other centers due to the characteristics of the area, which has about 60% as a national park, so a sustainable intervention will be carried out.
He noted that construction of the first two hotels will begin on February 5th, followed by work on the new airport. By the end of this year, Cabo Rojo will have a port for cruise ship passengers .
“I said, when we were inaugurating the first infrastructure works in Pedernales, that in five years that destination would change, in ten it would be unrecognizable, and in twenty it would be a model of growth for the entire region,” he stated.
He announced that a new cruise port will also be built in Samaná and that Amber Cove and Taino Bay in Puerto Plata will be expanded to accommodate more tourists, because he believes in cruise tourism and in the Dominican Republic as the best destination in America.
In the area of cultural tourism, he highlighted the development of the Colonial City with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank, and La Isabela Histórica, the first point of contact between Christopher Columbus and Dominican soil. A route will also be created along the paths taken by the colonizers to diversify the offerings for visitors, “because the Dominican Republic is more than just beaches.”.

In the presence of President Abinader and some 300 tour operators and travel agents, Collado showcased the beauty, charm and diversity of the Dominican Republic's tourism offerings in this city in the state of Florida.
“Thank you to President Luis Abinader Corona for being with us here, showing you the best tourism proposal in the entire Caribbean region and reminding you that the Dominican Republic is undoubtedly in fashion, because our country has it all,” Collado told hotel owners, travel agents, and tour operators.
The official highlighted what the United States represents for the Dominican Republic, as it is its main source of tourists.
In addition to his presentation in Miami, Minister Collado did the same in the city of Orlando, where he also met with 250 travel agents and tour operators.
