SANTO DOMINGO -The presidential candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Abel Martínez, yesterday presented six pillars of tourism development that he will promote in his government.
Invited to speak to executives of the National Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), Martínez spoke about state investment in infrastructure and sustainable tourism.
Similarly, as a third key area, he proposed diversifying experiences and complementary offerings. The fourth area focused on citizen security and road safety. The fifth addressed attracting new investment, and the sixth addressed human resource development through the construction of a Higher Technical Institute in La Altagracia.
The directors of Asonahores, led by David Llibre, celebrated that Abel's vision and proposals coincided with those of the association, which had presented them prior to his speech.
In outlining his development priorities, the candidate promised the construction of an aqueduct and treatment plants in Punta Cana, as well as monitoring for saltwater intrusion.
Along the same lines, the Amber Highway should be developed, which would allow cruise ship passengers to visit Santiago in less than 30 minutes. Also planned is the Atlantic River Highway, which will connect Puerto Plata with Montecristi.
He also guaranteed the construction of the Road Circuit, which will connect the Duarte Highway.
