Have you ever considered living in a house built from shipping containers? This type of home proves that it's possible to create a comfortable and attractive living space using recycled materials. With eleven stacked containers, this home is a prime example of how materials often considered "trash" can be used to build a functional and eye-catching dwelling. Best of all, their original colors have been preserved, resulting in a vibrant and unique house.
Every year, thousands of shipping containers are discarded worldwide. After countless journeys, they are dismantled and recycled in some countries.
However, in Africa, they are stored for potential recycling. In Europe, some companies recycle shipping containers to convert them into homes. They are usually insulated with various types of cladding and painted uniformly. Once the house is built, it's difficult to tell it's made from shipping containers.
The container house in Nigeria
Just days after posting photos of this unusual container home, the comments started pouring in. Some love it, others don't, but one thing this unique house certainly doesn't lack is color. The owner chose 11 shipping containers in completely different shades and arranged them in an L-shape. Four containers on the ground floor, two rows of three stacked above them, and a final container on the second floor.
One of the shipping containers has been converted into a spacious kitchen where black cabinets contrast with light wood countertops. The owners have installed a central island that opens onto a living room.
The living room appears to have been designed inside two shipping containers. One of them transforms into a sitting area with a large sofa, a television, some armchairs, and a decor that could be described as industrial.
The other one has been designed as a spacious bedroom in pastel shades.
All the original doors have been preserved and are used as shutters for the enormous windows.
