SANTO DOMINGO.- The government of Luis Abinader continues to create alternatives and plans so that the Dominican Republic continues to increase the number of foreign visitors who choose the country as their favorite vacation destination.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) and President Luis Abinader launched the global loyalty program DO Travel Rewards, aimed at travel agents who send tourists to this Caribbean land.
The initiative includes a rewards plan, training, information, and familiarization trips to different destinations in the Dominican Republic, while strengthening the relationship with more than 7,000 international travel agents.
According to the data provided, DO Travel Rewards will also serve as a platform for connection and community between international and local partners, such as hotels, leading agents and destination management companies, and experience providers.
Abinader said during the launch, which took place in the La Fiesta room of the Jaragua Hotel, with the presence of hundreds of travel agents from all over America, that the program is "the first mobility system that a country has in the world.".
During the event, several all-inclusive resort stays of up to five days were raffled off among tour package sellers.
Satisfactory experience
The president assured the tour operators present that the Dominican Republic takes the safety and health of tourists very seriously to guarantee a satisfactory experience.
For his part, David Collado, Minister of Tourism, reported that the arrival of 6.9 million tourists from the American market is expected by 2023 and that the program reaffirms the commitment to ensure that the Dominican Republic continues to promote the arrival of tourists.
He reported that this initiative is part of a strategy that began with more than 40 visits to the main cities that send tourists to the Dominican Republic around the world.
“This platform gave us the opportunity to design a plan tailored to the needs and aspirations of our partners,” he said.
