SANTO DOMINGO- According to the statements issued every Monday by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), the overpass at the intersection of 27 de Febrero Avenue and Máximo Gómez Avenue, which suffered a collapse on Saturday, November 18, resulting in 9 deaths, has undergone a total of 28 maintenance operations from 2020 to 2023.
In 2020, only one intervention was carried out throughout the year on the underpass of Avenida 27 de Febrero, which took place on October 7.
In 2021, two maintenance and cleaning operations were carried out at the overpass, on November 10 and December 14, according to a publication by Listín Diario.
According to information from the MOPC, in 2022 there was an increase in interventions on the overpass of Avenida 27 de Febrero with Máximo Gómez in relation to previous years.
In 2022, 18 interventions were carried out on the overpass, performed on January 4, February 1, March 29, April 26, May 18, May 24, May 31, June 15, June 21, June 28, July 11, July 19, September 13, November 2, November 7, November 30, December 10 and December 14.
According to information from the MOPC, the maintenance work lasted about a week and included solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning, drainage, electricity, among others.
Up to this year, 7 conditioning works have been carried out on the grade separation of the 27 de Febrero avenue with Máximo Gómez, on January 23, March 27, April 10, May 25, August 31, September 4 and September 14.
