Electricity rates for residential customers of electricity distribution companies will be adjusted by 9% for the next quarter
The Superintendency of Electricity (SIE) has established a 9% adjustment to the kilowatt-hour (kWh) rate for the April-June quarter of this year, compared to the rate set for the quarter ending March 31, for residential customers of the electricity distribution companies in the North (Edenorte), South (Edesur), and East (Edeeste). Through resolution SIE-021-2022-TF, adopted on March 28, the SIE explains that the 9% increase to be applied to end-user BTS-1 (residential) customers with a consumption range of 0 to 300 kWh per month is due to “the current and widespread volatility in international prices of coal, natural gas, oil, and derived fuels used for electricity generation.”
The IAD will give titles to families from Villarpando in Azua
The director general of the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD), Francisco Guillermo García, announced yesterday that the organization will conduct a survey of land in the community of Azua, as a preliminary step to grant definitive titles to its inhabitants, who have occupied plots and lots belonging to the State for several decades.
More than 17,000 tourists arrived in the country yesterday, 56% of them from the USA
Tourism Minister David Collado said that the Russian trade war has affected tourist arrivals, resulting in a decrease of 60,000 visitors to the country. However, he noted that the number of Canadian arrivals has been increasing, and yesterday saw a rise in tourist arrivals from various destinations, primarily the United States (56%). He stated that 17,012 foreigners arrived in the Dominican Republic yesterday, with 66% arriving through Punta Cana and 22% through Las Américas International Airport (AILA).

Government guarantees respect for landowners during Pedernales airport construction

Former lottery administrator plotted to defraud betting shops
The former administrator of the National Lottery, Luis Maisichell Dicent, created the conditions to carry out fraudulent operations in that state institution, which is being investigated in the course of “Operation 13”. Texas crude oil rises 3.4% and costs US$107.82
The price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil rose 3.4% yesterday to $107.82 a barrel after a further weekly reduction in U.S. crude inventories was confirmed. According to data at the close of trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex), WTI futures contracts for May delivery added $3.58 compared to the previous close.
