SANTO DOMINGO. This week, marked by the mass movement of citizens to different parts of the country, the integrated transportation system is adjusting its schedule. The Santo Domingo Metro and cable cars will modify their service hours, a measure that directly impacts urban mobility during the Easter holiday.
The information, disseminated through the official accounts of Metropolitana de Transporte (MT) and Metro de Santo Domingo, establishes a special scheme that varies according to the day, combining reductions in the operating day with adjustments in the opening hours.
On Thursday, considered one of the busiest days in the city before the exodus to the interior, both the Santo Domingo Metro and Cable Car will operate from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the cable cars in Los Alcarrizos and Santiago will begin half an hour later, at 6:00 a.m., maintaining the same closing time.
The situation changes on Friday, when work activity traditionally slows down. On that day, the Metro will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., while the cable cars, including those in Santo Domingo, Los Alcarrizos, and Santiago, will further reduce their hours, operating from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., according to reports.
On Saturday, the system maintains a similar schedule, although with slight variations. The Metro will continue operating from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Santo Domingo Cable Car will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., while the Los Alcarrizos and Santiago systems will begin earlier, at 6:00 a.m., also closing at 9:00 p.m.
On Sunday, when the gradual return of travelers begins, the cable car schedule will remain the same as Friday, operating from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Metro, meanwhile, will continue to offer service from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
