The concessionaire company AERODOM announced the appointment of French engineer Cyril Girot as its new CEO, effective April 1, 2026
SANTO DOMINGO.- The appointment comes at a key stage for the company, marked by the execution of its main investment project, the new terminal of the Las Américas International Airport, José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA), whose construction involves more than US$350 million and whose delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2028.
Girot arrives in the country after leading operations at Cambodia Airports, a network that manages three international airports in that Asian nation, since 2022. Previously, he headed the airports of Nantes and Saint-Nazaire in France, where he oversaw the decline in air traffic during the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent recovery process.
His career also includes participation in airport infrastructure projects in Latin America, such as the expansion of the Santiago de Chile airport, as well as roles in the French public administration, specifically in areas related to energy and transport.
The designation comes at a time when AERODOM, a subsidiary of VINCI Airports, faces the challenge of expanding the country's airport capacity in parallel with the sustained growth of tourism and air traffic.
The new director will be responsible for overseeing the future Terminal 2 at AILA, designed as a complementary infrastructure to the existing terminal, with an estimated capacity for four million passengers annually. Its features include the incorporation of solar-powered energy systems, in line with the sustainability commitments announced by the company.
Beyond the executive change, the shift occurs while questions persist about the pace of construction, the operational impacts during construction, and compliance with the announced deadlines for an infrastructure considered strategic for the country's main airport.
