SANTO DOMINGO- The Dominican Republic is experiencing one of its strongest periods in civil aviation, highlighting record figures, legal reforms and growing international projection.
“We confirm that, from January to September 2025, we have registered 14,872,425 passengers and 104,125 air operations in arrivals and departures, which translates into estimated direct and indirect income for the country of 13,692 million dollars,” said Héctor Porcella, president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC).
The official also specified that 3,910 operations were approved under the Special Permit modality, and a total of 4,324 charter flights were authorized, of which 1,011 correspond to combined passenger and cargo operations, and 3,313 to exclusive cargo operations. He added that 63 new routes were established, and more than 290 airlines operate to and from the Dominican Republic. All of this demonstrates a significant increase in air connectivity in the Dominican Republic.
He will assume the presidency
Porcella made his statements during the XXVI Ordinary Assembly, where he will be elected president of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (CLAC), a regional organization founded in 1973, where civil aviation authorities address issues of vital importance for the sustainable and efficient of civil aviation.
The meeting promotes cross-sector cooperation and an open skies policy with all regional countries, strengthening air connectivity.
The Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (CLAC) comprises 22 States: Argentina, Aruba, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Héctor Porcella, representing the Dominican Republic, will assume the presidency for the next two years. He stated, “It is an honor to take on this new role, where we will work alongside the region's civil aviation authorities to consolidate a shared vision that will drive the sustainable growth of air transport in the region.”.
“As a country, we have assumed a fundamental role in the regional sphere by strengthening civil aviation, complying with the standards and recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and as the entity responsible for the Macro Task of Transport and Air Policy, our goal is to position the country, and Latin America, as leaders in global aviation.”.
