Earthquake in Venezuela: Death toll rises to 188 and more than 20,000 missing

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Venezuelan Presidency reported this Thursday afternoon, through its official account on the social network X, that the earthquakes registered yesterday, Wednesday, in the country have left an updated death toll of 188 people, within the framework of the national emergency generated by the seismic movements.

According to the same official statement, the number of missing persons has risen to 20,807, while 971 injured people have been treated by health services in different affected areas.

Search and rescue efforts continue

Venezuelan authorities have deployed rescue and emergency response teams in the affected areas, with the aim of locating missing persons and providing immediate assistance to communities affected by the earthquake.

Assessment of structures in the affected areas

In parallel, teams are carrying out technical assessments of buildings and infrastructure in order to determine possible structural damage in the areas where the greatest impact was recorded.
