SANTO DOMINGO.- "After a review of our records, which include the technical construction inspection forms for said project, we can confirm that it is in compliance with the construction requirements," says the statement issued yesterday, Saturday, December 16, by the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), referring to the accident that occurred at a construction site on Winston Churchill Avenue that left one person dead.
The country's construction regulatory body adds that it will work jointly with the authorities conducting the investigation to promptly clarify all the details of the unfortunate event, identify possible failures, and establish the appropriate responsibilities.
In addition to the death, four people were injured after a scaffold collapsed at a building at the aforementioned address in the National District, according to the 911 System, which also reported that the Directorate of Emergency Services for Outpatient Care (DAEH) deployed four ambulances and a motorcycle ambulance, while the police presence included two units of the National Police, as well as the National District firefighters who sent two units to assist in the emergency; in addition to one from the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett) that joined the operation.
The Ministry of Defense said in the statement that it is attentive and willing to work with the authorities conducting the investigation to clarify all the details of the incident, while expressing its regret for the incident and its solidarity with the families, affected workers, and relatives and friends.
"Officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MIVHED) immediately visited the site to gather details of the accident and prepare a report. After reviewing our records, which include the technical construction inspection forms for the project, we can confirm that it complies with all construction standards," the document states.
