The program will run for 11 weeks with live music, theater, historical tours and free cultural experiences in Santo Domingo
SANTO DOMINGO.– The Ministry of Tourism, together with the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster, announced the official start of the summer edition of the “Turizoneando Verano 2026”, a broad cultural and recreational agenda that seeks to revitalize the Colonial City and strengthen its tourism offerings.
The initiative began last Saturday, June 20, and will run for 11 consecutive weeks, until August 30, 2026, with more than 100 activities aimed at national and international audiences.
A Colonial City full of life and culture
According to the Presidency, during this period, the main spaces of the First City of America will be transformed into cultural stages with artistic presentations, live music, family activities and gastronomic and recreational proposals.
Among the highlights are the concerts in Colón Park, with the participation of artists such as Transfusion, Aljadaqui, Techy, Diomarys “La Mala”, Benny Hiraldo and Gabriel Pagán, among others.
There will also be rock nights at “Las Mercedes en Vivo” in Tirso de Molina Square; jazz evenings on the steps of the Conde; and folk music performances on Saturdays in Pellerano Castro Park. In addition, there will be the traditional Sunday music sessions with the group Bonyé at the San Francisco Ruins.
Culture, theatre and entertainment for the whole family
The program includes a diverse entertainment schedule in Duarte Park, where a local artisans' market will be set up and comedy nights will be held with stand-up talents such as El Pio RD, Elías Serulle, Nanita Laura, Fernando Pucheu, Los Muchachones and Starlyn Ramírez.
In addition, the children's activities will include entertainment, face painting, flexi-globes and the participation of the character "Turi", designed for the enjoyment of the little ones.
In the cultural and performing arts component, five theaters in the colonial zone —Las Máscaras, Microteatro, Guloya, Teatrera and Anacaona— will be part of the program with theatrical proposals open to the public.
Historical tours and open museums
The agenda also includes the Route of the Temples, with free access from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., which will allow visitors to see emblematic churches such as Our Lady of Las Mercedes, Our Lady of Altagracia, the Dominican Convent and Regina Angelorum.
Similarly, the Long Nights of Museums, in coordination with the General Directorate of Museums, will offer extended access until 9:00 pm in spaces such as the Museum of the Royal Shipyards, the Fortress of Santo Domingo, the Cathedral Museum, the Amber Museum and the Larimar Museum.
Visitor facilities and access
As part of the new features of this edition, the Ministry of Tourism has enabled the official portal www.mitur.gob.do/turizoneando, where citizens can consult the complete program and details of the activities.
In addition, it was announced that attendees will receive a 20% discount on rides to and from the Colonial City via Uber, as part of the efforts to facilitate mobility during the event. Special promotions are also being offered at local businesses, in coordination with ABZOCOL and ADERES.
An experience that has already begun
Last Sunday, June 21, one of the first major events of the program was held in Colón Park, with a concert headlined by the band Transfusion and singer-songwriter Techy, in an evening that brought together different generations in the same cultural space.
The Ministry of Tourism reiterated its invitation to citizens and visitors to join this cultural tourism experience and to follow the institution's official social media accounts to learn about the weekly schedule.
