Santiago seeks territorial order

SANTIAGO.- The Vice Minister of Territorial Planning and Regional Development of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development, Domingo Matías, signed a letter of intent with the mayors of the association of municipalities and municipal districts of the province of Santiago.

Matías explained that the goal is to finalize an agreement for the territorial planning of the province. He specified that Santiago is a metropolitan area that requires the regulation of private and public sector investment, and that it is of utmost importance that the territorial planning and land use bill currently before the National Congress be approved. He emphasized that the mayors must coordinate their efforts to regulate land use.

She emphasized that the issues to be regulated are urban mobility, housing construction, citizen security, and environmental protection. The governor of Santiago, Rosa Santos, indicated that the issue is very important for defining territorial boundaries.
