The government has paved 3,452 linear kilometers of road in three years

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, announced that his institution will launch a third asphalt tender in the coming days for an amount of 11.2 billion pesos, while President Luis Abinader expressed his intention to carry out a national asphalt plan.
Ascención stated that in the last three years the government's public spending on street paving is more than 15 billion pesos, with 3,452 linear kilometers of road intervened and more than 19 million cubic meters of hot asphalt concrete.
During his participation in the ninth anniversary of the National Association of Asphalt Producers (Anpras), held at the El Embajador hotel, President Abinader offered the directors of this association "to work together to develop a national asphalt plan.".
The president believes that by the end of this year the government will be in a position to execute the project, with a multi-year budget, covering the main cities of the country.
“We need to develop a multi-year plan to address the need for asphalt in the neighborhoods, which, ladies and gentlemen, not only helps with daily activities, but also, when poverty is measured, part of poverty is the lack of asphalt in the place where one lives,” the governor stated.
President Abinader highlighted the importance of paving streets to boost community development, which is why he often works with the Minister of Public Works to identify resources that can be used to do more.
Ascensión recalled that during his time in Public Works, two important bidding processes have been carried out.
