Ogtic and ITLA promote training programs to strengthen the country's digital capabilities

The strategic alliance will strengthen talent development, technological innovation, and applied research in line with the Digital Agenda 2030

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (Ogtic) and the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) will develop training programs, specialized certifications and innovation initiatives aimed at strengthening the digital skills of Dominicans, and contributing to the digital transformation of the State.

According to the Presidency, the collaboration will allow the academic, technical and technological capabilities of both institutions to be combined to promote the development of specialized talent, applied research, knowledge transfer and the adoption of emerging technologies, in line with the objectives of the Digital Agenda 2030.

Ogtic's CEO, Edgar Batista, emphasized that digital transformation requires much more than technological infrastructure; it demands people prepared to lead the changes driven by the new digital economy.

“Digital transformation isn’t just about technology, it’s about people. With this initiative, we want more Dominicans to strengthen their digital skills, enabling them to take advantage of the opportunities offered by innovation and new technologies,” he said.

Similarly, the rector of ITLA, engineer Jimmy Rosario Bernard, highlighted that this initiative strengthens the vision of a State closer to the citizens through the strategic use of technology and specialized training.

“This effort places people at the heart of the digital transformation, bringing public services closer to citizens in a more efficient, transparent, and accessible way. The initiative aligns with the National Development Strategy 2030 and the Digital Agenda 2030, reinforcing the commitment to building a more agile, responsive, and people-centered government,” stated Rosario Bernard.

Ogtic will provide strategic support and technical advice in areas related to digital transformation, digital government, interoperability, cybersecurity and technological modernization, also promoting the adoption of good practices and national standards in digital government.

For its part, ITLA will make its academic spaces, laboratories and technological resources available for the development of joint training and innovation programs, in addition to promoting applied research initiatives and technological entrepreneurship.

With this alliance, the Dominican Government reaffirms its commitment to promoting a more prepared, innovative and connected country, where knowledge, technology and human talent become engines of development, competitiveness and well-being for all citizens.
