The ten buildings will consist of five levels that will house 1,350 employees, 28 courts, 63 offices for judges and prosecutors, five multipurpose rooms and parking for 289 vehicles, criminal courts, a pretrial jail and a juvenile care office, among other spaces.
SANTO DOMINGO.- Santo Domingo East will have a new Palace of Justice, a project that is being built on a 50,000 square meter site and will be equipped with more than 20 courtrooms and around 300 parking spaces.
This weekend they poured the last slab of the building complex, giving way to a new stage which is the completion.
The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, visited the site and highlighted the importance that "for the engineers, the pouring of the concrete represents because it is the part that consolidates a construction and at that moment another stage begins, which is the completion stage.".
Regarding the possible opening date, he explained that an inauguration date could be set in the middle of 2022.
"The work would now enter controllable variables, because now is when we are in the external part, where weather conditions can delay or accelerate the work.".
The construction project is being carried out by Constructora Rizek with an initial investment of RD$2.05 billion. However, Ascención said that the final cost could reach RD$3 billion.
The Santo Domingo East Courthouse is being built on Sabana Larga Avenue in the Los Mina sector.
