SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Republic was recognized for the third consecutive year as the destination with the highest level of visitor satisfaction in the Caribbean, a distinction that reinforces its position among the most important tourist markets in the region.
The information was released by the Presidency of the Republic, which highlighted that the country received the award “Destination With the Highest Visitor Satisfaction – Caribbean” during the TravelAge WAVE Awards 2026 ceremony, held at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Marina del Rey, California.
The award, given by the specialized publication TravelAge West, recognizes the quality of the experiences offered by the destination and the level of satisfaction expressed by travelers and travel agents in the North American market.
An award received for the third consecutive year
The Presidency highlighted that the distinction is even more significant because it has been obtained for the third consecutive year, in a category in which the Dominican Republic competes with other important tourist destinations in the Caribbean.
The recognition takes into account factors such as the quality of the infrastructure, the service offered and the overall visitor experience, aspects that have allowed the country to consolidate itself as one of the most valued destinations in the region.
“This recognition reflects the best of our country: genuine hospitality, an industry committed to quality, and a shared vision of service,” said Raquel Reyes, Director of Tourism Promotion for Central Florida, quoted by the Presidency.
Diversification and quality drive the country's positioning
According to official information, the award also demonstrates the results of strategies aimed at strengthening the destination's competitiveness and expanding its tourism offerings.
In addition to the traditional sun and beach segment, the Dominican Republic has developed proposals linked to luxury tourism, meetings and incentives, golf, gastronomy and cultural experiences, factors that have contributed to expanding its international appeal.
The TravelAge WAVE Awards are considered one of the most important recognitions in the North American tourism industry and are awarded based on votes from travel agents and evaluation by industry experts.
With this new award, the Dominican Republic continues to strengthen its international reputation and consolidate its leadership among the most competitive and highly rated destinations in the Caribbean.
