When we hear (or think) the word "moving", many concerns often arise due to the number of aspects to consider; however, it doesn't have to be chaotic, as long as some prior considerations are taken into account and planning is done.
Here are 5 aspects that I consider key to successfully moving your company, whether to a new office or commercial premises:
1. Find the location that best suits you:
Of course, it's important to keep in mind the real estate costs in relation to the area where you want to position yourself; these can vary depending on whether you're buying or renting.
To select the area that best suits you, keep the following in mind:
- Consider the socioeconomic level of your potential customers.
- Distance between the new location and the current collaborators' homes.
- Office efficiency in terms of square meters (number of columns, installations, or placement of workstations). And evaluate the number of square meters per person.
- Availability of parking spaces for employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Connectivity, at this point the internet or telephone is of primary importance in order not to interrupt operations.
- The physical security of the area, which has security and surveillance.
- The trade surrounding it.
2. Plan an estimated maximum budget:
Moving your business means budgeting a certain amount to cover all the associated costs. I recommend accurately determining the resources you'll need, including moving expenses, new furniture, air conditioning, lighting, technology, internet reconnection costs, and more. This will help you avoid unexpected costs.
3Create a step-by-step timeline:
Plan the logistics of the move chronologically, from the date you vacate the team's current location until they are ready to return to their new positions. This will allow you to set a more accurate moving date. You should also factor in the time typically required for legal procedures, such as signing contracts for the new location or with a professional moving service.
4. Consciously rearrange the space:
Take advantage of this opportunity to use the spaces in the most efficient and user-friendly way possible. To give the space a new purpose, there are new variables to consider, such as mobility and company culture, transforming the office into an area for interaction and fostering collaborative work.
5. Last pending items:
Create a to-do list to verify and control each step of the process, without suffering losses in profits, and streamline this change for those who belong to the company.
Once these needs are met, you can begin working consistently and take advantage of the benefits offered by the new space and this strategic move in your business.
