What role does spiritual well-being play in people's success?

According to positive psychology specialists, spiritual well-being involves neither rituals nor dogmas, but rather the construction of meaning. Silence, purpose, and focus drive personal, professional, and business success.

SANTO DOMINGO. – With the start of Lent, a period that traditionally invites introspection, this concern arises, which transcends any creed because, far from religion, spiritual well-being is linked to a sense of purpose, coherence between values and actions, and the ability to connect with something larger than oneself, whether it be the community, service, or a personal mission.

For many experts in leadership and human development, this internal dimension is a determining factor in performance and decision-making.

American author and speaker Tony Robbins, author of "Awaken the Giant Within," published by various publishers in Latin America and Spain, argues that the quality of life depends on the quality of emotions and the meaning that each person gives to their experiences.

In this work, Tony Robbins develops his approach to the power of decisions, emotional management, and clarity of purpose as the basis for sustained success, and in his leadership programs he has stated that sustained success is not based solely on financial goals, but on clarity of purpose and internal alignment.

Similarly, researcher Brené Brown, a professor at the University of Houston, has linked authenticity and emotional connection to more effective and resilient leadership. Brown states that people who are clear about their values make more consistent decisions and handle adversity better.

In the Dominican Republic, clinical psychologist and lecturer Ana Simó has pointed out in various public forums that emotional balance and awareness of purpose directly impact productivity and interpersonal relationships, key factors in any professional career.

Studies on life purpose and job performance have found that those who clearly identify their "why" show greater persistence, less emotional burnout, and higher levels of job satisfaction.

In high-pressure contexts, such as business or politics, this dimension often goes unnoticed compared to quantifiable indicators such as income or results.

However, more and more organizations are incorporating mindfulness programs, conscious leadership, and values development, under the premise that internal stability directly influences the ability to generate external results.

Lent, then, can become a symbolic starting point for discussing strategic pauses, reviewing goals, and reconnecting with one's personal purpose—not only from a faith-based perspective, but also from the perspective of holistic well-being.
Because, as Robbins summarizes, success without meaning leads to emptiness, while success aligned with values produces sustainable fulfillment.
