The agency adopted preventative measures to protect drinking water and sanitation systems from the effects of a trough impacting the national territory
SANTO DOMINGO- The executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA), Wellington Arnaud, led a meeting of the institution's Emergency Committee to monitor the incidents caused by a trough affecting different parts of the national territory.
During the meeting, the agency arranged preventive actions to safeguard the drinking water and sanitation infrastructure, as well as to guarantee the safety of personnel in the face of weather conditions.
Also among the measures adopted is the suspension of operations in some systems that present high levels of turbidity, as part of the actions to preserve the quality of the water supplied to the population.
Call to the citizens
Given this situation, Arnaud urged citizens to stay informed through the official channels of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), in order to learn about the guidelines and preventive measures issued by the authorities.
Similarly, he recommended making rational use of drinking water, taking into account the possible effects that the atmospheric phenomenon could have on supply systems.
Ongoing monitoring
The INAPA Emergency Committee remains in permanent session to monitor the evolution of weather conditions and coordinate timely responses to the needs of the population.
These actions are being carried out in compliance with the directives of President Luis Abinader, with the purpose of reducing the possible impacts of the trough on drinking water and sanitation services.
