They will replace dirt floors with concrete in homes in San Cristóbal and other areas.
SANTO DOMINGO – Banco Popular Dominicano and the non-profit organization Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic signed a collaboration agreement through which the bank will donate US$100,000 to the “Floors to Play” project , an initiative that will replace dirt or damaged floors with concrete floors in approximately 100 homes in vulnerable communities, thus improving the health and safety conditions of the beneficiary families.
The interventions will be carried out in areas previously identified by Habitat, such as the province of San Cristóbal, as well as in other priority areas of the country.
An agreement for decent housing
The signing ceremony took place at Torre Popular, with executives and representatives from both organizations in attendance. The agreement was signed by Christopher Paniagua, CEO of Banco Popular; Cesarina Fabián, National Director of Habitat for Humanity; and José Mármol, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, Reputation, and Responsible Banking for Grupo Popular.
During the event, Paniagua reaffirmed Banco Popular's historic commitment to improving the living conditions of communities across the country, noting that this alliance reiterates the humanist vision that has distinguished the bank since its founding.
“At Banco Popular, we go beyond the financial business, because more than six decades ago we were born with a humanistic vision of touching lives, committed to equitable and sustainable development,” said the CEO.
He also highlighted that the alliance with Habitat represents the spirit of collaboration with civil society, a commitment that Banco Popular maintains with allied institutions to build a better present and future for the country.
For his part, Fabián emphasized that this alliance will allow them to continue bringing hope, stability, and well-being to the vulnerable communities that need it most, and in turn contributing to fulfilling Habitat's vision: "That every person has a decent place to live," he said.
