With an investment exceeding RD$37 million, the Ministry of Tourism began this weekend the renovation of Playa Linda, in the municipality of Nizao, Peravia province, where a modern tourist boulevard will be built.
Tourism Minister David Collado highlighted that the project is part of his national initiative to revitalize the country's waterfronts, thereby promoting local tourism and boosting the economy of coastal communities.
“It’s time to start reclaiming public spaces and waterfronts in this beautiful province of Peravia, and we’re starting here in Nizao, a land of hardworking people and great baseball players,” Collado said during the event. He also announced the provision of low-interest loans for local businesses.
The project, carried out by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR), includes the construction of restroom facilities, three pergolas, two entrance porticos, a parking lot with space for 20 vehicles, showers, and 258 square meters of wooden pedestrian flooring. It will also feature lighting, signage, furniture including 16 tables, umbrellas, 64 chairs, and diverse landscaping with species such as mangroves, almond trees, and gri-gri trees.
The mayor of Nizao, Iván Reyes, highlighted that this project will create a tourist circuit that will attract more visitors and requested the expansion of the road that connects Playa Linda with the municipality.
For her part, Governor Yadira Báez stated that these types of initiatives boost tourism and economic development in the south of the country, adding to other major projects such as the Baní highway.
Collado stated that the goal of 8 million visitors will be reached this August, reaffirming the sustained growth of Dominican tourism.
