According to the institution, the intervention, which involved an investment of RD$568 million, reorganizes one of the busiest points on the Atlantic coast, integrating commerce, public space and services into the same structure.

The project includes 79 commercial premises distributed across seven levels of terraces over an area of 15,000 square meters, a design that, according to the Ministry, seeks to organize economic activity and improve the visitor experience.

Commerce, tourism and public space

According to the entity, the new plaza concentrates 57 gastronomic units, 16 spaces for crafts, in addition to bars and kiosks, configuring an offer aimed at both tourism and local consumption.

The project also incorporates complementary infrastructure, such as parking lots, recreational areas and community spaces, which, according to the Ministry, allows the area to function beyond tourism and be integrated into the daily life of Sosúa.

Organization and formalization

The Ministry of Tourism indicated that one of the central objectives of the intervention is to reorganize commercial activity on the beach, by relocating vendors to equipped and regulated spaces.

In that sense, the premises were delivered with basic infrastructure installed, including kitchen equipment and furniture, which facilitates the immediate operation of the businesses.

Impact on the destination

According to the institution, the renovation of the waterfront seeks to reposition Sosúa within the tourist offering of the north coast, with a model that combines urban planning, services and visitor experience.

He argued that this type of project is part of a broader strategy for the recovery and modernization of key tourist destinations in the country.
