SANTO DOMINGO.- David Collado, Minister of Tourism, inaugurated the construction of a photo stop on Punta Rucia, located in the municipal district of Estero Hondo, municipality of La Isabela, in the province of Puerto Plata.
The project, overseen by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (Ceiztur) of the Ministry of Tourism, will have a cost of RD$ 10,822,480.
The new photo opportunity will contribute to the creation of a visual landmark that promotes the destination, strengthens local identity, offers greater security and enhances the tourist environment of this beautiful beach, according to a press release.
Collado said that small projects like this make a big difference to the surroundings and serve as an attraction for those who visit the stunning Punta Rucia beach.
“This photo stop marks the starting point for other interventions and actions by the Ministry of Tourism throughout this beautiful area of Punta Rucia and La Ensenada,” the official stated.
The area to be intervened comprises a total area of 352 square meters and 1,391 square meters of influence area, which includes road asphalt and reconstruction of the east sidewalk, curbs and ground cover for coastal edge protection.
This scope includes pedestrian sidewalks, curbs, gutters, gardens and reinforced concrete city branding sign, paving work, sidewalk construction, road signs, lighting and landscaping.
The new photo stop will mark the arrival of local and foreign visitors to this destination in Punta Rucia, defined as a hidden and tranquil paradise, famous for its crystal clear turquoise waters and white sand.
In addition to the Minister of Tourism, the event was attended by provincial authorities, mayors, community members, and businesspeople from Puerto Plata.
After completing the activity in Punta Rucia, Collado carried out a supervisory tour of a modern plaza in Sosúa, which is being built with an investment of more than 558 million pesos.
He reported that the Ministry of Tourism has invested more than 1.7 billion pesos in Puerto Plata.
