SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Accreditation Body (ODAC) reported that it accredited the CORVI PVC testing laboratory under the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017, an endorsement that directly impacts the quality of pipes used in infrastructure projects.
According to information provided by the organization, this certification guarantees that the laboratory has the technical capacity to perform tests that determine the resistance and durability of pipes, a key component in drinking water works, agricultural systems, construction and electrical installations.
Authorized tests include breakage, crushing, impact, airtightness and acetone immersion tests, used to evaluate the behavior of these materials under conditions of use and pressure.
The entity indicated that having these types of accredited evaluations at the local level allows for a reduction in dependence on laboratories abroad, which can translate into more agile processes and lower costs for public and private projects.
He also highlighted that the application of international standards facilitates the comparison of results and contributes to raising the competitiveness of Dominican products in foreign markets.
In practical terms, the validation of these tests also impacts the safety of the works, by reducing risks associated with failures in pipe systems, such as leaks or premature deterioration, which can generate economic losses and affect essential services.
