SANTO DOMINGO.–511 is the new number provided by the RD Trust for drivers to report possible difficulties on the country's main highways.
A press release from the agency highlights that the new number replaces 829-688-1000 as the official contact channel for the Integrated Roadside Assistance, operated by the Military and Police Commission (Comipol).
Users traveling on the roads of the Dominican Republic will be able to request immediate assistance in the event of breakdowns, accidents or other risky situations on the national road network, explains the press document.
"This new service is part of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP), of which the Dominican Republic is a part, thus joining the model implemented in countries such as the United States and Canada."
RD Vial explains that the launch of the 511 is part of a continuous strengthening of the Integrated Road Assistance, which is in the expansion with the progressive incorporation of more than 200 new mobile units delivered to Comipol.
It states that the expansion is designed to multiply the installed capacity of the service, reduce response times and raise the standards of care on the country's roads and includes cranes, ambulances, vans, mobile workshops and motorcycles.
“With the launch of 511, we are multiplying the installed capacity of the Integrated Roadside Assistance, which represents a direct investment in safety and peace of mind for citizens. This tool reinforces our commitment to offering a faster and more efficient response, aligned with international best practices in road safety,” stated Hostos Rizik Lugo, CEO of RD Vial.
This change has been made possible thanks to an initiative of the RD Vial Trust and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), which had the collaboration and approval of the Board of Directors of Indotel to authorize the designation of 511 as the Basic Special Service number.
The institution assures that with this measure, the Dominican Republic adopts an international standard of roadside assistance, strengthening road safety and facilitating more modern and efficient access to the Integrated Roadside Assistance.
