SANTO DOMINGO.- "From yesterday, Monday, until next Friday, the bridge over the Ozama River, which connects Charles de Gaulle Avenue with Santo Domingo North, will be completely closed in both directions," the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported today.
The Communications and Press Directorate released the information, detailing, as it does every Monday, the road closures that will take place this week in Greater Santo Domingo, as part of the weekly maintenance work carried out by the Ministry on road infrastructure.
He said that from Monday night, May 22, until Saturday, May 27, he will proceed with the closure of vehicular traffic through various overpasses, including bridges, located in Greater Santo Domingo, due to maintenance work.
In each case, there will be a total closure and the hours to be in effect will be from 10:00 at night to 5:00 in the morning of the following day.
This Monday, Tuesday, and into Wednesday, the underpass at the intersection of Avenida 27 de Febrero and Tiradentes will be closed. The same applies to the elevated section of Avenida 27 de Febrero, the Juan Bosch and Juan Pablo Duarte bridges, and the long tunnel at the intersection of Avenida 27 de Febrero and Avenida Abraham Lincoln and Avenida Winston Churchill.
The overpasses at John F. Kennedy Avenue and Doctor Defilló; Kennedy Avenue and Núñez de Cáceres Avenue; and the Las Américas tunnel will be closed on Tuesday.
The work to be carried out includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, among others.
On Wednesday, the following overpasses will be closed: 27 de Febrero with Doctor Defilló and Carmen Mendoza, 27 de Febrero with Núñez de Cáceres, 27 de Febrero with Privada, and the Las Américas marginal road; the Las Américas tunnel; the Kennedy overpasses with Lope de Vega and Tiradentes, and Kennedy with Abraham Lincoln.
On Thursday, the following will be closed: the overpass at 27 de Febrero and Ortega y Gasset; the level crossings at 27 de Febrero and Máximo Gómez; Kennedy and Máximo Gómez; Juan Carlos Bridge (dry bridge); Charles de Gaulle and Avenida Ecológica; Ecológica and Marginal Las Américas (dry bridge); and the overpasses at John F. Kennedy and Ortega y Gasset, and Marginal Las Américas and Avenida Estados Unidos (Los Tres Ojos).
Also included are the Ortega y Gasset-UASD Tunnel Control Center, the Las Américas Tunnel Control Center, and the long tunnel at 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill. These works do not require closure.
On Friday, the following overpasses will be completely closed: Las Américas with Avenida Hípica; Las Américas with Route 66 (South-West and East-South); Las Américas with Calle 7/6 La Caleta; Las Américas with Andrés Boca Chica; Las Américas with Carretera Puerto Caucedo (Caucedo); Las Américas with Calle José Francisco Peña Gómez (Boca Chica); the Jubey-Boca Chica road underpasses (dry bridge) and the Santo Domingo road towards Samaná.
On Saturday, the overpasses of the V Centenario Expressway with Tunti Cáceres and Peña Batlle streets, and the elevated section of Máximo Gómez with Nicolás de Ovando, will be closed.
