The measurement seeks to improve the availability of strategic data on the dynamics of nation-building
SANTO DOMINGO- The National Statistics Office (ONE) reported that the first edition of the Building Supply Registry (ROE) for the year 2026 began on April 21 and will run until June 9. This statistical operation aims to strengthen the production of information in the construction sector and provide key evidence for decision-making regarding housing and urban development in Greater Santo Domingo.
The measurement is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed) and the Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Promoters (Acoprovi), as part of joint efforts to improve the availability of strategic data on the dynamics of national construction.
It gathers information twice a year
This survey is carried out twice a year and through it information is collected on buildings at different stages: in plans, under construction, stopped and completed.
The operation covers the entire urban area of Greater Santo Domingo (National District, Pedro Brand, Boca Chica, San Antonio de Guerra, Los Alcarrizos, Santo Domingo North, Santo Domingo West and Santo Domingo East), where a significant part of the country's construction activity is concentrated, allowing for a comprehensive view of the sector's behavior, explains a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.
He explains that the information generated through the ROE constitutes a strategic tool for the country, since it contributes to the formulation of public policies, supports decision-making in the private sector and strengthens the monitoring of national and international commitments in urban development and housing.
A role for public policies under construction
The ONE specifies that field personnel are properly identified with institutional ID cards, helmets, and orange reflective vests. Supervisors and evaluators wear red reflective vests. Furthermore, the vehicles used in this operation are clearly marked with the ONE's institutional logo, as an additional measure of trust and security for the public.
The ONE assures that it guarantees the confidentiality of the data provided, in accordance with the provisions of articles 9 and 12 of Law 5096 on National Statistics and Censuses.
As the coordinating body of the National Statistical System, the ONE carries out this operation in compliance with its role of producing and disseminating official statistics, in accordance with Law 1-12 of the National Development Strategy (END 2030), the National Multi-Year Plan of the Public Sector and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular target 11.1, aimed at guaranteeing access to adequate, safe and affordable housing and basic services.
The National Statistics Office (ONE) reaffirmed its commitment to the production of quality official statistics, fundamental for evidence-based public management and for building a more organized, planned country with better opportunities for all.
