Ministry of Tourism launches new promotional route on Line A train in New York

Tourism Minister David Collado launched the new promotional route on the A line of the New York train last Friday, an emblematic action that covered all of Manhattan and culminated in Washington Heights, recognized as the heart of the Dominican community in the city.

In a press release, the Ministry explains that the initiative is part of the Subway to Paradise campaign: “The Dominican train”, designed to strengthen the emotional connection with the diaspora and promote the country as a tourist destination.

Collado said that this campaign reaffirms the country's commitment to Dominicans residing abroad and their strategic role within national tourism.

“Today we are here again in New York with this event, showcasing the beauty of our country and its diverse tourism offerings,” the official said.

As part of the comprehensive Subway to Paradise campaign strategy, the Dominican Republic also has a promotional train on Line E, which was in operation throughout December and continues to operate until January 11, extending the reach of the campaign to thousands of users of the city's transportation system, explains the press release.

The new markings on Line A will be available to the public until February 1st, turning the journey into an immersive experience that brings Dominican identity into the daily lives of New Yorkers and visitors.

He adds that the activation included a series of cultural actions that transformed the urban space into an authentic Dominican celebration, with merengue, joy, gastronomy, raffles and gifts, transmitting the festive energy that characterizes the country's traditions and its unique way of celebrating.

The day was accompanied by a special presentation by the artist Jandy Ventura, “The Legacy of the Horse”, who brought rhythm and emotion to this cultural celebration.

New York concentrates approximately one-third of the entire Dominican community residing abroad, which made it a key point for this initiative.

During 2025, more than 500,000 Dominicans residing in New York traveled to the Dominican Republic, generating a significant economic impact for the country, reflecting the importance of the diaspora for national tourism, according to the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).
