SANTO DOMINGO.– The Dominican Republic is once again participating in the ANATO 2026 Tourism Showcase, one of the most important events in the sector in Latin America, where it presented its destination offering to tour operators, airlines, travel agencies and investors from the region.
The Dominican delegation inaugurated its official stand at the Corferias fairgrounds, headed by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, who highlighted the strategic importance of the Colombian market for the sustained growth of the national tourism industry, according to information shared by the Ministry of Tourism through its official channels.
A sustained presence in the Colombian market
The Dominican Republic's participation in ANATO is not new. It has maintained a consistent presence at this tourism showcase in recent years, consolidating trade relationships and strengthening agreements with key players in the South American market.
Since previous editions, the country has used this platform to promote its air connectivity, diversify its offerings beyond traditional sun and beach tourism, and showcase new development hubs. This continuity has allowed Colombia to solidify its position as one of the most dynamic source markets for Dominican tourism.
According to sector data released by tourism authorities and business associations, the flow of Colombian visitors to the Dominican Republic has shown sustained growth in recent years, positioning that country as a strategic partner within the region.
Opening of the stand and business agenda
During the opening day of ANATO 2026, Minister David Collado led the formal opening of the Dominican space, highlighting the impact of this type of fair on attracting visitors and generating new investment opportunities.
The agenda includes meetings with wholesale tour operators, airline representatives, travel agencies, and stakeholders in hotel and real estate development, with the aim of expanding routes, strengthening air connectivity, and increasing tourist flow from South America.
Support from the financial sector
This edition also includes the participation of the Banco de Reservas de la República Dominicana, whose presence reflects its interest in promoting financing opportunities linked to the tourism and real estate sectors, in coordination with developers and entrepreneurs present at the fair.
Although the central focus is on promoting the destination, collaboration between the public sector, banking, and business is part of the comprehensive strategy to sustain the growth of Dominican tourism in international markets.
Regional projection and diversification
ANATO has become a key platform for the Dominican Republic to showcase its offerings beyond the Caribbean, solidifying its position as a competitive destination in Latin America. This year, the country is promoting not only traditional destinations like Punta Cana and La Romana, but also cultural, gastronomic, and urban tourism.
The Dominican Republic's participation is part of the international promotion strategy developed by the Ministry of Tourism, which prioritizes the diversification of source markets and the attraction of new investments.
The country's continued presence in this regional showcase reaffirms its interest in maintaining strong trade relations with Colombia and other South American countries, thus strengthening the Dominican Republic's position on the continental tourism map.
