SANTO DOMINGO.– An engineer was robbed at gunpoint while at a construction site, where he was relieved of a large sum of money and his vehicle, according to the National Police.
According to the police report, the professional was kidnapped. Those responsible used the vehicle to carry out a robbery at a jewelry store in Bávaro, La Altagracia province.
The National Police explained that the assailants entered a construction site where a perimeter wall was being built and, at gunpoint, robbed the engineer of his belongings and forced him into an SUV they were traveling in, while others took his own truck and carried out the robbery at the jewelry store.
Minutes later, through a call made to the national emergency system, police patrols located the engineer and his vehicle, whom the perpetrators of the crime had left abandoned in a rural area.
The institution stated that the victim of the incident does not have any type of blows or injuries and is being interviewed by investigators and the public prosecutor.
The information was provided by the National Police, through a press release, where it reports that the process of removing video surveillance cameras has begun, both from the business and from the surrounding area.
Similarly, investigators have interviewed several people in search of clues that will allow them to provide an answer to the case as soon as possible.
The law enforcement agency reported that the police protocol for these types of cases was also activated, including alerts at toll booths and immigration checkpoints.
