Dominican Republic holds meeting with more than 1,600 tour operators and partners from Latin America

The Dominican Republic's Minister of Tourism, David Collado, successfully led the country's participation in the sixteenth edition of the IBTM Americas Fair, the most important MICE tourism event in the region. 

As he explained at the inauguration of the Dominican Republic's space, together with the ambassador in Mexico City, Juan Bolívar Diaz, this initiative is part of the strategy to continue strengthening a solid presence in this market, as well as strengthening trade ties throughout the Latin American continent and positioning the country's unique offering.

During the fair, the Dominican delegation held a meeting with more than 1,600 industry partners from Mexico and the rest of Latin America, where they presented the country's tourism strategies and advantages, as well as the new tourism promotion campaign, entitled "Dominicana te sonrisa" (Dominican Republic Smiles at You), which demonstrates the importance of the region as a strategic market for the Dominican Republic.

From January to July 2025, the country received 84,395 Mexican visitors , with a year-to-date growth of 26% compared to 2024, the year in which the record figure of 117,400 tourists was received.

The Dominican delegation consisted of 29 companies, including airlines, hotels, tour operators and DMCs, among them: Arajet SA, Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, W Punta Cana and the Santo Domingo Hotel Association.

Also, Otium International, ECT MICE Dominican Republic, Bávaro Adventure Park, Colonial Tour and Travel, Found Trip Tour Operator, The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort, Caribbean Holiday Services SRL. Likewise, Secret Tides Punta Cana, Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort, MICE Spots DMC, Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo and BLD Tours, among others.

With its presence at IBTM Americas, the Dominican Republic demonstrates its focus on diversification, positioning itself as a future leader in the meetings industry, while taking firm steps and supporting what will be the new Santo Domingo Convention Center and the new investments of hotel chains in infrastructure for MICE tourism and business tourism, combining innovation, culture and hospitality in every experience.
