Do you know which construction took the longest to complete?

The Great Wall of China is the longest-running construction project in history. Construction began in the 8th century BC and was completed in 1644—2,000 years later. Stretching over 21,000 kilometers, it is an incredible tourist attraction.

It is a fortification built between the 5th century BC and the 17th century AD in northern China to contain invasions by nomadic tribes, primarily from Mongolia. It is the largest engineering project ever undertaken.

UNESCO designated it a World Heritage Site in 1987. Thirty years later, in 2007, the Wall won the public competition for the New Seven Wonders of the World.

The Great Wall of China is located in northern China, bordering the Gobi Desert (Mongolia) and North Korea. It runs through the regions of Jilin, Hunan, Shandong, Sichuan, Henan, Gansu, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hebei, Qinghai, Hubei, Liaoning, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Beijing, and Tianjin.
