The Cibao Urological Center (CUC) and Médico Express will be built on a plot of land of seven and eight thousand square meters, respectively, with an investment of more than two million pesos.
SANTO DOMINGO – Health tourism in the Dominican Republic is booming. The groundbreaking ceremony for new, state-of-the-art centers continues in Santo Domingo and Santiago, the main cities where several such facilities have been built.
With an investment exceeding two billion pesos, two new towers were recently announced, one in Santiago de los Caballeros and the other in Santo Domingo Este, with a variety of services and amenities in line with the advances of the era.
This week, the Cibao region unveiled a new tower to be built, housing a 7,200-square-meter clinic. It will be the Cibao Urological Center (CUC), offering medical services in urology and gynecology, as well as a clinical laboratory and outpatient surgery facilities.

The tower will have six levels, six operating rooms, 45 hospital beds, 34 consulting rooms, and 180 parking spaces. The investment will be one billion pesos, and it will be located on Juan Pablo Duarte Avenue, one kilometer from the current site of the CUC, a regional specialized center that has been operating for 25 years.

President Luis Abinader broke ground this Tuesday to begin construction of Médico Express, a modern health center that will provide access to world-class medicine to the municipality of Santo Domingo Este.
The center will have an area of 8,500 square meters of construction, and has the financial backing of Advanced Asset Management and Lazul Inversiones with a view to developing opportunities for 200 direct and 400 indirect jobs.
In his keynote address, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, CEO of Médico Express, said that his vision is to provide high-quality and safe health services to local patients and tourists, supported by a multidisciplinary team of specialists and cutting-edge technology.
Felipe Amador, CEO of Advanced Asset Management, reported that “the facilities of Médico Express are possible given an investment that amounts to approximately one billion pesos. The Center will be a pioneer in the area and will be the first of a network of health centers under this modality, which we plan to support in the next 5 years.”.
“Médico Express will offer an innovative and expanded concept of Emergency Centers, encompassing adult and pediatric emergency areas, 14 consulting rooms with the main medical specialties, a modern outpatient operating room, a clinical laboratory, a women's clinic, a dialysis unit, gastroenterology, a preventive check-up area, telemedicine, an international department, and state-of-the-art diagnostic and imaging equipment that does not currently exist in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este,” Cambiaso explained.
He indicated that Médico Express San Isidro is located in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este, “an area that has a limited supply of health services and important competitive advantages for medical tourism, since many relatives of the Dominican diaspora reside there and the area is close to the airport, port and hotels.”.

Cambiaso highlighted that the center will offer a mobile application to make appointments, view results and facilitate continuity of care, having a modern software that will integrate its electronic medical record, images and administrative module, betting on the internationalization, modernization and digital transformation of the Dominican health sector.
