Centro León extends Happy exhibition

SANTIAGO.-In order to provide more access opportunities to different audiences, Happy: essays on the work of Jorge Pineda will be open at the Centro León in this city until Sunday, July 2, 2023.

The large-format exhibition is being held in different spaces of the Santiago cultural institution, according to a press release.


“Happy is an exhibition that proposes a dynamic, joyful, playful, educational and provocative cultural experience, and through more than 90 works seeks to generate reflections and dialogues about relevant themes addressed by the artist in his career,” says the cultural institution.


It reports that to date, the exhibition has been very well received by different types of audiences, including artists, cultural managers, students of all educational levels, teachers, tourists, and the general public interested in art and culture.

It adds that the exhibition also features a set of playful and educational resources and devices that have been used by cultural and educational institutions, as well as by various organizations, generating interesting and innovative dynamics of cultural mediation.  
Happy: Essays on the Work of Jorge Pineda is sponsored by the Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana, Excel, and Banco BHD.

About Jorge Pineda

Jorge Pineda was a visual artist. He studied architecture at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and lithography at the Atelier Bordas in Paris. In his early career, in addition to the visual arts, he also worked in graphic design and directed and designed theater projects for children and adults.


He received awards at the Eduardo León Jimenes Art Competition in 1996, 2002 and 2006; at the Santo Domingo Biennial of Visual Arts in 2003; his graphic pieces, embodied in posters, have also been recognized in important competitions.

His works are part of collections such as those of the Reina Sofía Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León (MUSAC), the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM), the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection, Domus Artium 2002 Salamanca (DA2), the León Center in Santiago and the Museum of Modern Art of Santo Domingo (MAM).
