SANTO DOMINGO.– Pothole Repair 24/7 is the program announced yesterday by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), which aims to address any citizen report about potholes within a "maximum period" of 72 hours, through a mobile application.
If you spot a pothole or your car falls into one—which is quite likely—get out, take a picture, register your information, send it through the mobile app, and the ministry's crews will address the issue within 72 hours, assured technician Alfonso Rosario Chalas. People will be able to track the progress of their reports.
The first stage of the Pilot Plan will be carried out in District 1 of the National District, and then it will be extended to the entire country, government representatives said.
District 1 comprises from Isabel Aguiar Avenue in the west to the Ozama River in the east, and to the north from John F. Kennedy Avenue to the entire coastal shoreline of the Malecón.
The sectors included are Honduras del Oeste, Honduras del Norte, Los Cacicazgos, Renacimiento, Los Restauradores, San Gerónimo, Paraíso, Julieta Morales, Los Prados, El Millón, Mirador Norte and Mirador Sur, Miramar, Jardines del Sur, Bella Vista.
Also, Ensanche Quisqueya, Piantini, La Julia, Miraflores, Ciudad Universitaria, Naco, Gazcue, Don Bosco, Ciudad Nueva, Ciudad Colonial, Mata Hambre, Ensanche La Paz, La Esperilla, Centro Olímpico, San Carlos, Centro de los Héroes, 30 de Mayo, Cacique, Atala, among others.
The head of the MOPC, Delignes Ascención, said that all citizens who reside and travel in that district, which covers an area of 39.36 square kilometers, with more than 310,460 inhabitants, will be able to use the application, which consists of a mobile App, which during the first week will only be available on the IOS platforms.
Ascención stated that the goal is for the program to extend throughout the entire national territory and that this place was chosen as the starting point because "we had to start somewhere.".
The activity was led by President Luis Abinader, who did not speak but urged journalists to "use it and denounce the potholes.".
This is how to log in
The application is available for both mobile phones and tablets. When the user downloads the application and logs in for the first time, the screen will display the message "Pothole Repair 24/7," and they should tap "Enter.".
Next, in the User Data panel, you will need to register your name, phone number, and email address, and then click Next. Afterward, you will need to provide the address and a nearby landmark where the pothole is located, and then click Next.
On the next screen, the user must take a photo of the pothole and then tap Next. The data already entered will then appear for confirmation. If any changes are needed, the user can go back. Otherwise, the user can tap Submit to finalize the report.
Once the entire process is complete, the application will send the user a message confirming that the entire process was carried out successfully.
