Wellness and interior design: Spaces that heal

SANTO DOMINGO – Interior design has evolved beyond aesthetics. Today, designing also involves caring for people's physical, emotional, and mental well-being. In this context, wellness design becomes a powerful tool for creating spaces that not only look good, but also feel good.

Camila Gos tells us that as a professional interior designer and founder of Camila Gos SAC, her approach to the wellness world stems from observing "how people increasingly value their health and quality of life." In 2024, she had the opportunity to design a spa for Casacor Peru, a project that marked a turning point in her career. "This experience not only opened many doors for me professionally, but also confirmed the importance of specializing in the design of spaces dedicated to well-being," understanding that investing in health is a growing priority.

From there, he has developed various projects such as massage rooms and relaxation spaces for different clients, where each design decision plays a fundamental role.

In wellness design, choosing the right materials is not just an aesthetic matter, but a sensory and functional one. “Textures should convey calm, finishes should generate comfort, and colors should balance emotions,” the specialist explains.

Likewise, sound, aroma, and lighting take center stage. Well-designed lighting can induce relaxation, the right sound helps disconnect from the outside world, and aromas create memorable experiences. Everything works together to create spaces that invite you to pause, breathe, and reconnect. For Camila, “designing for well-being is designing with intention.” It’s understanding that every detail influences how a person feels within a space and that true luxury today is feeling good.

In wellness design, the choice of materials is fundamental. Materials such as sintered stone in bathroom spaces provide an immediate sense of luxury and comfort, especially when integrated with a well-designed shower or a bathtub that invites deep relaxation.

Furthermore, selecting the right bathroom fixtures is key to completing the experience. Knowing how to choose pieces that combine functionality, ergonomics, and design is an essential part of their job, as these details define how the space is experienced on a daily basis.

Personal and skincare also demands thoughtful design. Well-planned lighting allows for precise and comfortable treatments, while appropriate furnishings invite you to sit, pause, and enjoy the self-care ritual.

Camila currently works with more than 30 suppliers specializing in the wellness sector, who provide her with carefully selected products to achieve coherent, lasting proposals aligned with the needs of each client.

Continuing with her successes, she is currently working on her second presentation at Casacor Peru 2026, "a project that represents a new challenge and a great professional responsibility.".

In this edition, it will be in charge of the only wellness space in the exhibition, an environment designed to transmit well-being, pause and connection through interior design.
