The BHD Financial Center and the BHD Bank held their board of directors meetings for the first time in Santiago de los Caballeros, chaired by Luis Molina Achécar and Steven Puig.
Referring to the importance of Santiago, Molina Achécar, president of the BHD Financial Center, stated that "I am always pleased to return to Santiago, because it is a strategic pillar for our financial institution and an engine of energy, an economic, social and cultural hub for the entire Cibao region.".
As part of this initiative, the participants completed a full schedule of social and cultural activities, including a meeting with clients, attended by Raquel Peña, Vice President of the Dominican Republic, in which they announced a donation of RD$100 million for the preservation of the Ateneo Amantes de la Luz.
"This celebration takes on greater significance because we have timed it to coincide with the delivery of our contribution to the preservation of the Ateneo Amantes de la Luz, a century-old institution in Santiago, founded 151 years ago. For us, it is a source of pride to collaborate with the refurbishment of this invaluable heritage, as well as with its technological upgrade, and the preservation of its newspaper archive and library, which houses unique records of our history.".
During the three-day visit, BHD board members held a discussion with Edwin Espinal, a lawyer and historian, about the history of Santiago and the northern region. They also attended a dinner hosted by the León Financial Group, led by Carlos Guillermo León and María Amalia León, and visited the Santiago Free Trade Zone Corporation.
They also visited the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration Museum, where they were received by its governor, María Belisa Ramírez, and took a guided tour of the Arturo Fuente tobacco factory and the Eduardo León Jimenes Cultural Center.
As a gesture from the city to BHD, for three nights the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration was illuminated in green, the predominant color of the financial institution's brand.
The BHD board members who participated in these activities were Carlos Guillermo León, Manuel Pérez Vásquez, Andrés Maldonado, Fabian Mendy, Ignacio Aldonza, Iván Pagán, Jaime Sued, Jorge Alonzo, Antonio Caro, José Clase, Jorge Aguayo, Ramón Ortega, Ricardo Fondeur, Ignacio Álvarez, Franchesca Rainieri, Mónica Aparicio, Fidelio Despradel and José Luis Alonso.
