The big "why": A key question for real estate success

Let's reflect on the importance of the "why" in the success of a real estate agent and its impact on personal motivation. Since we're currently reading "The Millionaire Realtor" in our Realtor's Book Club, today I want to talk about the great "why" that drives us in this profession.

I was inspired by the stages outlined by Gary Keller, the author of this book, in the second part, where he addresses the four stages of a real estate agent and poses the fundamental question: what is our true, big "why"? I agree with him that, by having a proper "why," all the "buts" vanish and the "how" is found.

In a sector where one of the most notable benefits is the significant commission-based compensation, it can be easy to let the financial aspect be our only driving force. However, while money is important, if it's the sole motivation, you're likely to under-strive to give your best every day.

I love a reference made in the chapter about what we're capable of achieving just the day before we go on vacation. When we have our "why" clearly defined, we're filled with energy and strive for excellence in every action, no matter how small.

Today I will be direct

The end of the year is approaching, and my goal with this article is to plant that seed within you that will lead to transformative fruits, aligned with your great "why." As I mentioned in previous articles, many of us enter this business on autopilot, moving from one client to another, from one sale to another, without stopping to ask ourselves the question that could change everything.

Why am I doing this? The answer may take time, but I urge you not to stop until you identify a reason more powerful than money; a reason that keeps you positive, willing, and giving 100%, even on those days when a sale falls through or a client vanishes like a genie from a magic lamp.

The wrong "why"

The wrong "why" can be a goal focused solely on material ambition, attempting to achieve it through the path of least resistance. The difference between living with and without a "why" is immense.

In the previous article, I discussed the sense of urgency in the real estate sector, and I bring it up again because that urgency often stems from skipping steps. One of the most important steps is precisely asking ourselves why we're doing this and what we want to achieve. Remember that true success isn't measured solely in numbers, but in the passion and purpose you bring to your work. Find your "why" and let it guide you toward a future filled with achievements and personal satisfaction.

At the end of the day, the "why" you choose will be the compass that guides you on your path. Let that reason resonate in every action you take and transform your life and career into a meaningful and fulfilling journey.

I invite you to delve deeper into your "why" today and write it down. Make this reflection a commitment to yourself and watch how your motivation and results transform.
