SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) announced the official launch of the Dominican Republic's Construction Code, a document that establishes the guidelines that will govern the design, construction and supervision of works nationwide.
Through Resolution No. 007-2026, the regulatory instrument, publicly presented in 2025 as a result of a process with various sectors linked to the development of buildings in the country, is formalized and put into effect
With the issuance of this resolution, the MIVHED explains that it completes the formalization process required for the Code to come into force, allowing its official application within the current regulatory framework.
It emphasizes that the document remains in accordance with the version presented during the socialization process carried out in September 2025, which was disseminated through various institutional spaces and made available to the public.
The officialization through a resolution constitutes the necessary step for its implementation, guaranteeing legal certainty and clarity in its application by the various actors in the construction sector, details a statement from the government entity.
It emphasizes that from this provision, the Construction Code comes into force and is consolidated as the technical and regulatory framework that guides construction practices in the country, in accordance with current standards and the needs of urban development.
The MIVHED reiterated that this process is part of the institutional strengthening of the building regulation system, ensuring the continuity of technical initiatives developed within the framework of public management.
