TAMAYO, BAHORUCO.– – The Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) yesterday delivered 237 provisional titles to the same number of families belonging to the institution's Regional Office 6 in this southern area, covering an area of more than 4,714 tareas (approximately 1,000 acres).
The general director of the IAD, Francisco Guillermo García, stated that this act is a continuation of the launch carried out in April, where work began to grant titles to 1,500 families in this municipality, belonging to the province of Bahoruco.
“With the land titling plan, the current government reiterates its commitment to reducing poverty among the most vulnerable sectors, convinced that by giving them their property certificates, it makes them eligible for credit, with access to financing for their projects,” the official emphasized.
He also congratulated the new beneficiaries and exclaimed, "The distribution of land titles will continue in the province of Bahoruco and throughout the country, thanks to the social policy of President Luis Abinader.".
The official specified that of the landowners who obtained their provisional titles, 140 were integrated into the Angostura, José Francisco Peña Gómez IV and Aguacatico III settlements, while the other 97 were in Tamayo and Espartillar.
Speaking on behalf of the landowners was José Francisco Luciano, who expressed his enthusiasm for receiving the document from the director of the IAD that accredits him as the owner of his plot, and he was grateful because he will soon receive his definitive title.
Also present at the event were Juana Cristina Mateo, provincial governor; Melania Salvador Jiménez, civil senator; and Luis Milcíades Montes de Oca, mayor of Tamayo
Also attending from the IAD were the deputy director, Rivera Amador Amador; the heads of Land Acquisition and Distribution, Manuel Mateo and Omar Gratereaux, respectively; the legal consultant, Arsenio Toribio; the head of Communications, Frank Núñez; the head of Human Resources, Juan Andrés Mota Doñé; and Miguel Cruz, head of the Regional Office in Barahona, among others.
