A decade with a focus on sustainability
Alongside its charitable initiatives, Grupo Piñero affirms that it has strengthened its commitment to the conservation and protection of the environment and the communities where it operates over the past decade. Since then, sustainability has been an integral part of its business management, and it has been incorporating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) corporate policies, guided by the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals. These policies enable the company to advance towards a responsible tourism model in order to address the major challenges it currently faces.
In this regard, the company maintains that it has been a pioneer in integrating sustainable practices into tourism, obtaining certifications such as Travelife and EarthCheck for all of its hotels, and launching initiatives such as the Comprehensive Coastal Management Plan and the Samaná Biodiverse program. Furthermore, Grupo Piñero has made progress in decarbonizing its operations, with a fleet of electric vehicles.
Through its Eco-Bahía Foundation, the Group has made significant progress in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem protection, releasing more than 191,500 baby turtles in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. In terms of waste management, more than 20,000 tons of waste have been recycled.
“Sustainability is not just a goal, but a way of working and living. We are proud to see how our actions continue to positively impact communities and the environment. As we move towards 2030, we reaffirm our commitment to continue generating value for people and the planet,” says Antonia del Toro, ESG Director of Grupo Piñero
