PresidentLuis Abinader yesterday delivered 72 apartments of the Boca Residence project, under the Happy Family National Housing Plan, in the municipality of Boca Chica, of which more than 30% have been acquired by the Dominican diaspora.
During the event, the Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), Carlos Bonilla, indicated that the apartments are in addition to the 144 already delivered last year, and added that in recent years this initiative has delivered more than 3,500 homes throughout the country.
“It is our commitment, at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MIVHED), to expand the impact of this project to reach many more Dominican families. Just as we have done with our Mi Vivienda plan, through which we have delivered more than 9,000 homes in record time,” the official stated.
For his part, Eduardo Melo Paniagua , president of the construction company Comepsa , reported that with these housing units, the 216 delivered in the first phase of the project have been completed. He also announced the official start of construction on the second phase, which includes 208 new homes. “Thanks to the extraordinary success of the first phase, more than 70% of the units in this new phase have already been sold.”
With this delivery, in the Boca Residence housing project, which includes a total of 1,096 apartments, the beginning of the delivery of homes by the Mivhed is marked, through the Happy Family plan, an initiative that was passed to this entity by mandate of President Abinader.
The investment in the project amounts to RD$182 million, through a public-private partnership in which the state subsidy contributes RD$61 million and the private contribution RD$121 million.The project
Boca Residence includes two and three bedroom, with one or two bathrooms, featuring a basketball court, volleyball court, pickleball court, automated access bar, drainage system, lighting, parking and other facilities that guarantee safety and well-being for its residents.
Oversee progress on the Ecological Avenue
Earlier, the president, accompanied by the Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrella, toured the progress of stage III of the Ecological Avenue, which connects the municipalities of Santo Domingo Este and Boca Chica, and has a length of 1.5 kilometers to the port of Punta Caucedo.
On February 16, the president inaugurated the second section of the road, a 10.5-kilometer stretch with two lanes in each direction. The first section of the avenue, extending from Ciudad Juan Bosch to the intersection with the Samaná highway, totals 1.97 kilometers of main roadway and was opened on February 7, 2023.
The project complements the Santo Domingo bypass, which begins in Haina, San Cristóbal, and ends in Caucedo, Boca Chica, enabling faster and safer. It is being carried out by the Government through the Ministry of Public Works and Communications and the RD Vial Trust, and built by the construction company Rizek.
Those present included the mayor of Boca Chica, Ramón Candelario; the director of INAIPI, Josefa Castillo; the director of National Assets and the CEA, Rafael Burgos; and the senior executive vice president of Banco de Reservas, Isidro García. Also in attendance were representatives Juan José Rojas, María Elisa Suárez, Altagracia de los Santos, and Jheyson Amir García.
