Santiago – With an investment of US$50 million, Grupo Estrella inaugurated a plant for the production of prefabricated concrete in this district yesterday, in an event led by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.
The infrastructure aims to meet the needs of construction projects driven by public policies and is part of the organization's innovation strategy, inspired by the development of a comprehensive offering of products and services aimed at satisfying the needs of the clients it serves.
"The opening of the new prefabrication plant consolidates the vertical integration strategy of the Estrella Group, which includes the construction of infrastructure and building works, metal structures, cement, concrete, aggregates, laminates, real estate development and lightweight concrete facades.".
The new precast concrete plant occupies an area of 34,000 m² and is divided into three production lines, initially focused on manufacturing the more than 1,500 beams required for the Santiago Monorail. These beams are considered the most critical elements of the construction process due to their tight tolerances, measured in millimeters.
The first preparation line has automated cutting, bending, and assembly areas for the steel components that will be used to manufacture the reinforcement for the post-tensioned guide beams of the monorail. Two additional lines operate in the production of tangent beams and curved beams.
Technology from Germany leads the equipment of the new plant, which includes automated production equipment, straight and curved molds with three and five bottoms, 50 and 16 ton overhead cranes, 70 ton gantry cranes, among others.
With the inauguration of its precast concrete plant, Grupo Estrella kicks off its 40th anniversary celebrations in the construction sector. This period is marked by its participation in prominent projects that have fostered development in the Dominican Republic and the region, such as the Santiago Monorail and the La Cumbre – Gregorio Luperón Tourist Highway, the Northern Ring Road in Costa Rica, the Caribbean Highway Corridor in Panama, and the Les Cayes – Jeremie Highway in Haiti.
Their products support the growth of multiple economic sectors, by meeting the needs of different market segments.
