SANTO DOMINGO.-The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) reported yesterday, Thursday, that the instant payment platform will experience intermittent outages next Saturday, October 5, due to Swift Corporation's routine global business continuity exercise on its platform.
According to a statement issued by the agency, the process will take place between 12:00 noon and 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, so it calls on economic agents, financial intermediation entities and the general public to be attentive.
Swift, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, is the company responsible for providing financial communication services to entities around the world, including the operation of the payment flow in the Dominican Republic.
In the statement, the Central Bank apologized to users for any inconvenience this exercise might cause and asked for their understanding. It also emphasized that these exercises are essential to guarantee the quality of the payment messaging service provided by Swift.
In that regard, he specified that this exercise ensures the continuity and security of financial transactions at a global level.
This type of testing aims to maintain the stability and efficiency of the payment system, being a fundamental pillar in the management of financial operations that are carried out daily in the country and the world.
The BCRD's instant payment service is a key tool that allows users to make bank transfers in real time, facilitating speed and security in transactions.
